Is tapioca cat litter safe for kittens or cats that chew/lick litter?
Yes! Our tapioca litter is made from 100% food-grade tapioca starch (no chemicals, fragrances, or binders). Accidental ingestion (common with curious kittens) is non-toxic and easily digestible, reducing risks of gastrointestinal issues—unlike litters with synthetic additives.
How much litter should I put in the litter box?
For optimal clumping and comfort, fill the box to 2–3 inches (5–7.5 cm) deep. Too little may cause litter to stick to the bottom; too much can lead to unnecessary tracking and waste. For large cats or multi-cat households, add an extra 0.5 inch to handle higher usage.
Can I flush your cat litter down the toilet?
Our tapioca litter is flushable—but always do so in small amounts (1–2 clumps at a time). Its plant-based starch dissolves in water, but large quantities can clog pipes. Our bentonite or crystal litters are NOT flushable—dispose of them in the trash (they’re non-biodegradable and may damage plumbing).
What’s the step-by-step way to transition to new litter?
Follow this 7–10 day "mixing method" for best results:
- Days 1–3: Fill the litter box with 80% old litter + 20% new litter. Let your cat use it normally—don’t disturb the box unnecessarily.
- Days 4–6: Adjust to 50% old litter + 50% new litter. Observe if your cat still enters the box, digs, or uses it without hesitation.
- Days 7–10: Increase to 20% old litter + 80% new litter. If your cat is comfortable, on Day 10 you can switch to 100% new litter.
Pro tip: If your cat pauses before entering or avoids the box at any stage, slow down—stay at the current mix for 2–3 more days before increasing the new litter ratio.
How often should I fully replace the litter?
- For single cats: Replace tapioca litter every 2–3 weeks, bentonite/crystal litter every 3–4 weeks.
- For multi-cat households: Shorten intervals by 1 week (tapioca: 1.5–2 weeks; others: 2–3 weeks). If you notice persistent odors or reduced clumping (even after daily scooping), it’s time for a full change.
Are your litters eco-friendly? Do they contribute to waste?
